Pure Ineke

Pure Ineke by Ineke Van Hullebusch supplies high quality designer handbags, the production of which does not involve any animals being killed or mistreated. "At least equivalent to leather handbags but much more sustainable and easier to maintain."

"I became a vegan four years ago because I no longer wanted to be jointly responsible for causing animal suffering," Ineke begins her story. Vegans try and avoid animal products as much as possible. And it goes much further than just what's on your plate, Ineke continues. "Our greatest power lies in our wallet. By consciously choosing what we spend our money on, we can bring about change and create a better world. It's not only about what we eat but also what we wear, how we live, how we view life... Veganism is a lifestyle.”

Pure Ineke: the lifestyle, the online store, the book

Ineke proves that this lifestyle need not be synonymous with the goat wool sock mentality with her online store Pure Ineke. "I love beautiful things, it's fair to say I am addicted to shoes and handbags. However, when I became a vegan I realised that the most beautiful things were almost all made from leather. The softer the leather, the younger the animal used to produce it when it died. So, I decided to show everyone that veganism and modern design are perfectly compatible." The motto of Pure Ineke is thus not surprisingly ‘Vegan Living with Style’.

Ineke distributes handbags via Pure Ineke by the brands Alexandra K and Bent & Bree. "Made from polyurethane and cork, and of an extremely high quality. In terms of feel and look they are at least equivalent to leather handbags. However, they are much more sustainable and maintenance-friendly. Leather easily gets damaged and requires special treatment for it to look like new again. For my handbags all that is needed in most cases is a damp cloth." The Pure Ineke concept is still in its infancy. "In the future, innovative items will be added systematically." Ineke is also currently writing a fun and practical book about creating ‘The Ultimate Vegan Lifestyle’.
