Just like us, our houses evolve during the different stages of our lives. From this point of view, we got an interesting assignment from one of our clients in Olen: to adapt their interior to their new way of life.

A good relationship for years

Almost ten years ago we met this client in our showroom. Our interior designer Mieke helped them out with the interior design of their bedroom and dressing, and gave them advice on a new living room table and matching chairs. The couple’s son was only a little boy back then. Now, that little boy is all grown up and his parents have retired. This means the time was right for a complete make-over of the house to fit this new life stage.

Enjoying life in a new interior

The clients told Mieke about their new situation. For example, they had this beautiful room in their house that wasn’t really being used at the time, but they really wanted to make the best use out of this space.

Ever since their retirement, their way of living changed completely. They have more spare time, more time for reading, for music, for enjoying the garden, inviting friends and spoiling their son and daughter in law. In short: more time to enjoy life.

Course of the project

Mieke went by the clients’ house several times. One time to measure the rooms and see them with her own eyes. That way, the clients could also perfectly make clear what they wanted.

And also during the project Mieke visited them with samples of the different possible materials and colors. It is best to make these decisions on the spot – certainly when there’s a lot of different items being combined.

A pleasant challenge

For us, this realization in Olen was a really fun project, especially because of the clear wishes of the clients and the available budget.

At the same time, it really was a challenge: we had to decorate three rooms that blend in together and a kitchen space. These rooms had to form a whole, but also have an own identity.

For example, there were a TV and music corner, a reading and reception corner, and a space for the dining table and sideboard, but these could also be used as a working table and closet.

Other than that, the clients own multiple pieces of art that had to get a central spot in the interior. It was our challenge to make this work as a whole.

Working on this project was really nice for us, since the clients were also interested in design and interior decoration. They already had a couple of good ideas, but couldn’t get to a good end result by themselves.

The result of our collaboration is a modern, warm, colorful and modern interior that pays special attention to art. An interior to enjoy life in!
