Visitors to our Master Gallery know that there is a good reason why design classics attain their status. In search of a grown-up and classy interior, the residents of this villa, supported by Master interior architect Filip Versmissen, instinctively opted for furniture masterpieces.

"This couple just had a few pieces they wanted to incorporate from their previous home," explains Filip. "This meant that, in consultation with them, we could choose almost all new pieces. It was my job to get to know the clients as well as possible and obtain an idea of their wishes in a short space of time. We were on the same wavelength from the outset, which meant it soon became clear which pieces from Master Meubel's vast range would be afforded a place in their home."

Cooking and eating at design classics

On the ground floor the large windows also allow the occupants to enjoy the garden with its swimming pond, from indoors. Anyone who wants to keep the chef company in the kitchen can take a seat on the bar stools by Harry Bertoia. A seating area with chairs by Arne Jacobsen invites ones to indulge in an intimate breakfast with a coffee and croissant. The dining table around the corner beckons for a more extensive lunch or dinner.

Enjoy the hearthfire and the sun

Between the kitchen and dining room is a cosy seating corner near the hearth, which also provides a view of the garden. The cognac coloured aniline leather of the sofa promises blissful comfort. Light and warmth is not only provided by the fire in the hearth, but also by the sun.

Window decoration by Silent Gliss provides some tempering if needed. "If the sun is shining and you close the curtains, they resemble light boxes," reveals Filip. "Attractive elements that also keep out UV light, which discolours the natural materials indoors."

Design classic in the office

The first floor houses an office and adjacent living room. The office table is a design by Charlotte Perriand and is made from solid American walnut. "The residents can turn the table in any direction to suit them. As it has no corners, it breaks up the sleek lines of the architecture." Behind the desk the Cassina Nuage cabinet, also one of the design classics by Perriand, provides adequate storage space.

Shapes, volumes and colours in perfect balance

The living room is a large space that cried out for a generous sofa, a need perfectly satisfied by the Grand Suite by Walter Knoll. It invites anyone, young and old, to recline among the soft cushions in optimal comfort.

Two black and one warm red side table draw one's eye. Combined with the brown armchairs and bluish-grey cabinet by Cappellini they provide a true colour palette. "Creating an interior means seeking a balance between shapes, volumes and colours," Filip continues. "It's just like a painting: everything has to be in proportion.”
